This comprehensive course will equip you with the essential knowledge and skills for safe and effective manual handling, crucial for preventing injuries and pain.
You will begin by learning what manual handling is and understanding the relevant legislation. We will then explore how the risk management framework helps in meeting legal obligations, delve into risk assessment tools, and demonstrate the application of the hierarchy of control. The course will also cover biomechanical principles for safe lifting techniques and provide practical safety tips.
Furthermore, you will gain hands-on knowledge of various Manual Handling equipment and aids commonly used by Disability Support Professionals. This course will specifically demonstrate the “HOW TO” for assisting participants to move using tools such as transfer belts, hoists and slings, slide sheets, and transfer boards.
Upon completing this course, you will be able to:
